Gregory is a perfect example of what Andy Hymel's School of Music represents. Gregory started taking lessons from Andy at the age of 12. He made every lesson and practiced to the point that he stood out amongst the group of three students Andy was teaching in that class. Gregory then expressed his desire to learn the piano. Andy believes it’s very important for all music students to have a basic knowledge of the piano. Gregory took to the piano very quickly, he even stated to Andy that “knowing how to read guitar music is really helping me read piano music so much easier”. With this single quote, Andy began to “see” a future teacher for the school of music. He told Gregory; “if you work hard enough and practice all the things you need to learn, I’ll have you teaching at the school by the time you are 17”.  Naturally, Gregory’s response was to be in disbelief that he had the ability to teach others how to play music. Andy knew what he saw in Gregory and knew that he would, if that was his desire, eventually be able to teach music to others., Well here we are today and Gregory not only teaches guitar but also piano! What a great success story Gregory is! The school is, and was designed to create teachers from within. Gregory knows all the theory of music and can explain it on a level that any beginner or intermediate student can understand. He has natural built in patience for all of his students. This is due to his journey to being a teacher, and that he is still taking private lessons with Andy on a weekly basis both in guitar and piano. Gregory’s best asset he can offer his students is his dedication to their development in music and a kind teacher that will lead them through the uncertainty all learning music studnets feel.
