Josh has
been playing piano for over 20 years, and has been playing
professionally and teaching for over 10 years. He studied jazz at New
York University before graduating with honors in 2000. While in New
York, he recorded for ROIR Records based in New York City, and played
piano, organ, Fender Rhodes, and guitar in an electric set of bands that
ranged from blues to funk to avant garde jazz.
Josh moved
to New Orleans in 2001 to absorb the local musical aura inspired by
Louis Armstrong, Clifton Chenier, James Booker, and Professor Longhair.
He found the current music scene to be as vibrant as the history, so he
stayed. He can be seen playing in clubs around New Orleans.
Josh has
been teaching piano, guitar, and music theory at Andy Hymel's School of
Music since 2003. He enjoys teaching all ages and styles from classical,
rock, jazz and blues.
